Jerwood Space is a diverse, creative space offering excellent facilities for both art and business. The venue, originally a Victorian school, was converted in 1996 as a space for theatre rehearsal. The building now comprises of two modern, rooftop meeting rooms, a contemporary ‘Glasshouse’ and Gallery on the ground floor, as well as rehearsal spaces and production offices.
The meeting rooms offer plenty of natural daylight with mid-wall to ceiling windows and even a small balcony area, providing delegates with an outdoor space during breaks.
The main art Gallery and Glasshouse are available to hire for evening events such as: drinks receptions, dinners, company presentations and panel discussions. The main entrance is off Union Street, and is a bright space boasting a high, gabled ceiling. The gallery itself often features contemporary artwork. The Glasshouse, which is adjacent to the Gallery, is a modern, fully glazed space which leads to a small courtyard and on to garden area.
The ‘back of house’ rehearsal studios are in use seven days a week by both established theatre, dance and music professionals, as well as emerging artists and companies who may benefit from subsidised rates. The rehearsal rooms are not available for business or corporate hire, but the array of companies, rehearses and ‘people through the door’ at Jerwood Space are what make this venue a distinctive and exciting place to be.
Everyone was very accommodating and flexible and went the extra mile for us as and when needed. People were very complimentary about the spaces and they very much enjoyed the food too.

We were very well looked after throughout the week, from the flexibility shown in setting up the rooms, through on-time and responsive daily catering and supplies replenishment, to the overall service we received.
